Soft-Start & Breath Tool
Koa's Gentle Liftoff
Meet Koa — a calm bear cub who floats a big balloon over a morning meadow! 🎈 Two calm things to do, in any order. Tap "Balloon breath" and watch the balloon: breathe in as it fills, breathe out as it settles — three slow breaths, then it stops on its own. Then pick a word and practice a SOFT START: the colored letters stretch to show how long to ease into the beginning, "Hear it" says the word slowly, and you start it together, soft. Tap "I lifted off!" each time you try — no rush, nothing is graded. Fill Koa's sky with ten liftoffs!

Please note: This is a free easy-onset and breath-support practice tool for therapist- and parent-guided use, not a diagnostic tool or a replacement for therapy. Koa the bear cub floats a hot-air balloon; a bounded balloon breath (three cycles of breathing in and out, with no hold, that stops on its own) gives the eyes a calm thing to follow, and a stretchy soft-start cue shows how long to ease into the beginning of a word. The app never records, listens to, times, or evaluates a child's breathing or speech, and it never judges how anything sounds — there is no right or wrong way to start a word, no score, and no praise or correction of a breath or an onset. The balloon breath is offered only as a calm thing to watch and is never counted or required. The stretched letters are a picture on the screen; the sound button always says the plain, natural word, and the grown-up models the soft start out loud. Starting a word soft is offered as a calm way to begin, never as a fix for how a child talks or for stuttering. The device remembers only how many liftoffs were finished (a count, on this device), never anything about the breathing or the speech.
