Speech Pacing Tool
Wade's Stepping Stones
Meet Wade — a tall blue heron who crosses a creek on stepping stones! 🐦 Pick a phrase, then help your child cross: they SAY one word and TAP one stone, say the next word and tap the next stone. Wade steps across with them. Tap "Hear it" to model the whole phrase first, or tap a word to hear just that word. There's an optional gentle beat if you want one. This is a calm way to go one step at a time — the app never grades how your child talks. Cross the creek ten times to fill Wade's trail!

Please note: This is a free fluency pacing tool for therapist- and parent-guided use, not a diagnostic tool or a replacement for therapy. Wade the heron crosses a creek on stepping stones; the child says a phrase or word one unit at a time and taps one stone per unit as they say it, so the tap marks the pace while the child's own voice carries the words. The app never records, listens to, times, or evaluates your child's speech, and it never judges how the speech sounds — there is no right or wrong way to cross, no score, and no praise or correction of how anything was said. An optional beat is only a pacing scaffold and is never compared to the taps. Crossing the creek simply means reaching the far bank; the device remembers only how many crossings were finished (a count, on this device), never anything about the speech itself. Going one step per word is offered as a calm way to cross, never as a fix for how a child talks.
