Literacy-Related Language
Literacy-related language therapy for kids in Henderson & Las Vegas
Strong spoken language underpins strong reading. Speech therapy can support the language skills that carry into the classroom.
At GO Therapy Las Vegas, licensed speech-language pathologists work on the spoken-language skills behind reading and writing, in our Henderson clinic or by teletherapy anywhere in Nevada.
What we work on
Literacy-related language covers the spoken-language skills that support reading and writing, including:
Phonological awareness
Rhyming
Syllables
Sound–letter awareness
Vocabulary
Listening comprehension
Narrative language
Following classroom directions
Signs parents notice
Parents (and sometimes teachers) often notice these first:
- Rhyming, clapping out syllables, or playing with sounds in words feels hard.
- Connecting sounds to letters is a struggle.
- Following multi-step classroom directions is a challenge.
- Understanding or retelling a story read aloud is tricky.
- New vocabulary doesn't seem to stick.
Noticing one of these doesn't mean something is wrong — every child develops at their own pace. It's simply a good reason to ask, and an evaluation is the clearest way to know.
What therapy looks like at GO Therapy
Starting is simple. Here's how it goes.
- 1
Reach out
Tell us a little about your child. Call us, or start a quick intake online.
- 2
We listen & evaluate
About an hour with you and your child — a standardized assessment, observation through play, a look at medical history, and your own input as the caregiver. From there we'll tell you whether therapy makes sense and, if it does, build an individualized plan. Therapy always starts with an evaluation.
- 3
We get to work
Play-based sessions begin — and we guide your family every step of the way.
Sessions use playful activities — sound games, rhymes, stories, and conversation — to build the language skills reading relies on. Your therapist will share ways to keep practicing at home.
Sessions happen in our Henderson clinic at 1481 W Warm Springs Rd, Suite 138, Henderson, NV 89014 (open Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm), or by secure video anywhere in Nevada.

Questions about literacy-related language
- Is this the same as reading tutoring?
- No. Literacy-related language therapy focuses on the spoken-language skills that support reading and writing — like phonological awareness, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and narrative language — rather than tutoring a reading curriculum.
- What happens at the first visit?
- About an hour with you and your child — a standardized assessment, observation through play, a look at medical history, and your own input as the caregiver. From there we'll tell you whether therapy makes sense and, if it does, build an individualized plan. Therapy always starts with an evaluation.
- Can we do teletherapy instead of coming in?
- Yes. Your child can meet a licensed GO Therapy speech-language pathologist by secure video from anywhere in Nevada. We don't do home, daycare, or school visits — teletherapy is our flexible alternative.
