Social Communication & Pragmatics
Social communication therapy for kids in Henderson & Las Vegas
Social communication is the give-and-take of connecting with others — the skills behind conversation, play, and friendship.
At GO Therapy Las Vegas, licensed speech-language pathologists help children use communication with other people, in our Henderson clinic or by teletherapy anywhere in Nevada.
What we work on
Social communication (also called pragmatics) is how a child uses communication with other people. Therapy can include:
Taking turns in conversation
Staying on topic
Understanding body language & facial expressions
Asking & answering social questions
Developing play skills
Understanding another person’s perspective
Repairing communication breakdowns
Using language appropriately with peers & adults
Signs parents notice
Social skills keep developing all through childhood. Parents often reach out when they notice:
- Back-and-forth conversation is hard — your child may talk at length about one topic or drift away from it.
- Taking turns in play or conversation is a struggle.
- Facial expressions, tone of voice, or body language seem hard for your child to read.
- Your child wants to play with other kids but finds it hard to join in.
- Misunderstandings happen often, and your child isn't sure how to fix them.
Noticing one of these doesn't mean something is wrong — every child develops at their own pace. It's simply a good reason to ask, and an evaluation is the clearest way to know.
What therapy looks like at GO Therapy
Starting is simple. Here's how it goes.
- 1
Reach out
Tell us a little about your child. Call us, or start a quick intake online.
- 2
We listen & evaluate
About an hour with you and your child — a standardized assessment, observation through play, a look at medical history, and your own input as the caregiver. From there we'll tell you whether therapy makes sense and, if it does, build an individualized plan. Therapy always starts with an evaluation.
- 3
We get to work
Play-based sessions begin — and we guide your family every step of the way.
Social communication sessions are active and playful — games, role-play, stories, and practice conversations. Your therapist works on the skills your child needs in their own day, and helps you support them in real situations.
Sessions happen in our Henderson clinic at 1481 W Warm Springs Rd, Suite 138, Henderson, NV 89014 (open Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm), or by secure video anywhere in Nevada.

Questions about social communication therapy
- What does a social communication session look like?
- It looks a lot like play. Depending on your child, sessions may use games, role-play, and stories to practice things like taking turns, staying on topic, reading facial expressions, and repairing misunderstandings. The plan is built from your child's evaluation and your input.
- What happens at the first visit?
- About an hour with you and your child — a standardized assessment, observation through play, a look at medical history, and your own input as the caregiver. From there we'll tell you whether therapy makes sense and, if it does, build an individualized plan. Therapy always starts with an evaluation.
- Can we do teletherapy instead of coming in?
- Yes. Your child can meet a licensed GO Therapy speech-language pathologist by secure video from anywhere in Nevada. We don't do home, daycare, or school visits — teletherapy is our flexible alternative.
